Do you know what a Triple Threat is?
In theater (yes, I used to be a theater nerd), that term refers to someone who can sing, dance and act. They don’t just barely pull it off, either. They can do all three with amazing ease and style. We tend to hate people like that. I kid, I kid.
Consider this bar the triple threat of the cookie bar world. All other bars look at this bar and they’re jealous. You know why? Because we have three things going on here: brownie, cookie, and more cookie. Sandwiched between the layers of brownie and chocolate chip cookie is…Chips Ahoy!

Normally I give bars away freely to hungry scavengers, but not this time. I know how to guard what’s valuable. That’s why I never let my beloved iPhone out of my sight, either.
Several months back, Kenny bought me the iPhone 6+. I call it the “phablet” because it is particularly huge. I have tiny hands (a ring size of 3 and a 1/2, y’all), so holding that phone can really present some challenges. But I love it. Have I mentioned that he bought me the one in rose gold? Swoon.

Of course, my children immediately picked up on the glory that is my phablet. I know they want one too, and I’ve told them they can have one when they’re 18. Does that make me one of those strict moms? Heck yeah!
Maybe I’m exaggerating the age at which my children will be allowed to get phones, but I see the opposite extreme going on all over the place. This one girl in my daughter’s kindergarten class has her own iPad, and another has my exact same phone. Disposable income issues and child engagement aside, can a child that age care for a device? I see how my kids treat their toys.

But yeah, having kids makes me more inclined to try and remember not Β to look at my phone all the time. Their generation is the first that was born into this technology. My teenage students are actually worried about the younger generation, and they’re pretty tuned out themselves. What happens when we all just stop looking at one another and hang out with our phablets instead? Oh, wait. We’re there.
Maybe if I distract my kids from looking at screens by having them look at dessert instead, they’ll learn how to socialize? Or maybe that’s not a good idea. But the dessert is awfully pretty!

These bars are easy to make and extremely rewarding to eat. The bottom layer is a brownie. The middle layer is Chips Ahoy cookies, and the top is refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough. Done and done and done! Triple threat, here you come!

At the rate technology is going, I’ll probably be prying my kids’ faces off of their phablets before they’ve reached adulthood, but for now, I’m gonna try and fight it, dessert in hand!
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1/2 package Chips Ahoy cookies
2 packages (16 oz. each) refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350. Line an 8-inch square pan with foil and coat with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a medium-sized bowl, mix the cocoa into the melted butter until it dissolves. Add the sugar and stir again. When the sugar is incorporated, mix in the vanilla and eggs. Add the salt and flour, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and press the Chips Ahoy cookies evenly into the batter. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Flattening the cookie dough out with your hands, spread the dough evenly over the surface of the partially baked brownies, being sure to cover the whole surface.
- Place the bars back in the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and the middle is set.
- Cool the bars completely. Cut into squares. Store in an airtight container.

Oh this really is the perfect triple threat dessert! Just what I need on this Wednesday morning. And I have tiny hands just like you, too…no one can believe it when I tell them that and it took me 4 times just to get my engagement ring sized right!

It took me 4 times too, Gayle! Tiny hands represent!
I am not a triple threat, instead I am a zero threat as I can do none of those haha.
What I can do is eat all of these though, that’s a talent, right?!

Ha. Eating is a talent, Dannii!

That sounds like SUCH a good cake. I want it!
Our kids were in high school before we let them get a phone and we had no cable until our youngest was in middle school. So you can imagine what a treat The Disney Channel was on vacations…how we looked forward to Lizzy McGuire! I am familiar with the term triple threat and I’d say you more than captured it! Brava!!!! I’m giving you a standing O!!!!

The good ol’ days, Annie. And now they’re all so techie focused!
Love how thick these are and loaded with such delicious things!! YUM!
Their height made me very happy, Manali!
Boy and I can’t have children of our own, and our dog has no desire to have a phone.. unless it is as a chew toy, so I can’t really speak on whether or not you are being too strict. I do know my niece and nephew are under the age of 12 and have ipads… which they are ALWAYS playing with. And I think it’s a bit too much. What ever happened to playing outside? Anyways. I LOVE these brookies, Mir! The name alone is awesome, but what these babies are made of is even better! Brownie and chocolate chip cookies sandwiching Chips Ahoy?! Only you would think of something so amazing! Boy would devour these babies in seconds! Cheers, friend!

It’s the whole “always playing with them” thing that makes me nervous, Chey. Playing outside is so much cooler anyway!
These look amazing – so over the top delicious. I have got to make these π Pinning!

Thanks, Medha! They are pretty over the top, but that’s my style!
This is such a cool triple threat dessert! I love it! And, oh my word. I would be like a double threat π I can sing and act. But I can’t dance! Sad. So sad.
Double threat is also pretty good, Aria!
This is so needed here for hump day!! I am feeling so sluggish today and this sounds so perfect!!
Wednesdays are SUCH sluggish days!
Oh, you know I’m all over these. The bigger the threat the better!!

Oh yeah. Triple threat dessert right there…
Exactly. My favorite kind!
I’m totally with you on the phone thing, Mir. What 5 year old needs an ipad anyway? The adults are just as bad. I can hardly walk anywhere these days without someone plowing into me because they’re walking and texting. And don’t even get me started on driving and texting….
On to more positive things! These brookies are the epitome of creativity! They look so thick and delicious!
Adults are just as bad. I do love my phone, but I put it away at work all day. I just don’t want to be tied to it!
